Surf education program, Dippers receives continued support from CPE Capital
Modified nippers and surf education program, Dippers, continues its push to reduce the risk of drowning for those on the autism spectrum. The program, now in its 7th year, is being run again this summer at Coogee, Bondi, Bronte and Port Macquarie.
Funding from organisational sponsorships, together with the respective SLSC’s who provide the volunteers, enables the program to be provided to participants at no cost.
CPE Capital, now in its fourth year of sponsorship, is one of the organisations whose funding allows the program to continue.
According to Autism Swim Founder and CEO, Erika Gleeson, “the population groups we support have a substantially higher risk of drowning than their peers. Dippers is designed to eliminate this risk by creating inclusive opportunities.”
The Dippers program has expanded over recent years, adding sites as it has built relationships with additional surf lifesaving clubs. It is seeking to continue this growth in 2023, with a view to building a national program.
